a collaborative single written by April Chung and the sound architect Douglas PArth.

As I have a habit of spending my free afternoons in the museums, this project is about expressing the atmosphere and colors I observe from selected artworks that really speak to me. Inspired Mostly by the dutch paintings between the 1800s and 1900s, I created four pieces that focus more on the harmony changes as I tried to depict the nuances of the color palette.

reimagined by the filmcomposer Hung-Tao Lin, the piece is ambient with an extra dose of cinematic vibe.

Heavily influenced by the traditional Andalusian music, the result is a melodically rich piece where piano, guitar, and violin intertwine to create a captivating instrumental fusion.

////

While my piano serves as a solid foundation, Peter's improvisational guitar adds an authentic Andalusian flair, and Jeff's violin enhances the composition's lively essence. ////

A piece blends the allure of ancient musical traditions with a modern and resonant sound.

[EP] Scents of Home:

Sunrise Train,

Morning Ritual,

Musky Trails

Turn on music if you had lost your way because

It can only go forward and not turn back.

It will bring you home and then

You will be afraid of nothing.

-April Chung

This piece is a risky business to me- it was half improvised at home, the other half in the recording studio. I do this for a simple reason- to convey the idea that I don't think there is destination in life. It's not essential to reach something in order to be perfect. Trust where life leads you, and every moment is perfection.

- April Chung

“The Wheels spin slowly,

bringing my future and

taking away my past.

I hop in the train and

let it take me to the

unknown.”

Scents recipe: Cypress, tea tree, geranium.

“fascinated by parallel universe theory, where several parallel worlds exist in different dimensions, and we live in one based on our daily decisions, I created this piece.”

-April Chung

“ If you remember that the blizzards actually no not make any sounds, and the whole world seems to be muted For Cozy Christmas music.”

-April Chung

“My favourite part was that we didn't really discuss how the music should be created, but that's the best thing! With Peter’s talent, I always got tons of surprises!”

[EP] sous les étoiles:

Preface to a Tale,

A Rose Sketch,

He Talks Impromptu

“The EP sous les étoiles is a piano set of three that is inspired by the gem of French literature “Le Petit Prince.” The use of improvisation and a slight dose of jazz give a feeling of the unlimited possibility I found within the creativity of little ones. It serves as etudes for pedagogical purpose.”

-April Chung

“It’s a piece off the EP sous les étoiles.” A dose of jazzy harmony and an improvisation section present the endless creativity and imagination of the little ones. it’s written in impromptu style ”

[EP] Instant Memories from Amsterdam:

Before Everything Start,

Meant to be Dripping,

Lost in Sunshowers,

Starring at Jacob,

The Tree That Saw Everything

“This album is about my daily experience of Amsterdam. I wrote it in the Autumn of 2021, when the golden city slowly switches to grey.

The feelings of uncertainty and the stagnant situation due to the covid virus added extra weight to this album.

The forever rain, the canals, sun showers, and tree that witnessed an air crash eventually became essential inspiration images.”

-April Chung

“It is about an image of small water waves in The Neth

erlands, especially when the breeze comes to the canals.

The piece is inspired by J.S Bach ( the first piece of the

Well-Tempered Clavier, volume one.) As I am a big fan

of Bach, I feel I am going back to the very beginning of

everything for inspiration, which Chopin did as well for his first prelude of the 24 Prelude op. 28.”

- April Chung

“It’s is about a never-ending rain. The introduction’s motif imitates the rain dripping, and it repeats for the piece’s duration. In contrast, the irregular rhythm of the dripping symbolizes the restless heartbeats during the pandemic,”

-April Chung

“There was one afternoon I was strolling along a canal after visiting a bookstore. The slanting rain in the sun made that day unforgettable. Due to the canal reflections, the city turned half golden and half silver, and I lost track of time daydreaming. After who knows how long, I finally came back to reality, and I saw a double rainbow.”
